Tires all look alike – round and black. The difference between a tire priced at €100 and one at €200 cannot be explained with an EAN number. It takes product content and clearly communicated benefits. And at reifen.com, that content is now delivered automatically.

German Multi-Channel Retailer for Tires and Wheels

reifen.com store branch in Bornum with a vehicle parked in front

reifencom GmbH is a German multi-channel retailer specializing in tires and wheels. The company operates an online shop, 35 physical branches, and a Europe-wide network of fitting partners. Its product range spans 124 tire brands – from premium manufacturers such as Michelin, Bridgestone, and Pirelli through to budget brands at the lower end of the price spectrum.

Buying tires online requires more than just tire dimensions, labeling values, and an EAN code. Customers compare models, ask about intended use cases, and want to understand why one tire costs twice as much as another. Guidance, technical details, and comparability form the basis of purchase decisions in tire e-commerce – and those foundations are built on the product detail page.

Challenge

When Product Information Fails to Guide

The starting point varied by manufacturer. For some premium brands, reifencom GmbH already received product descriptions, images, and technical specifications directly from the manufacturer. For others – particularly in the mid-range and budget segments – the available supplementary information was considerably more limited: less descriptive content, fewer images, or inconsistent detail.

On many product pages, customers found little to guide their decision. They were largely presented with master data such as price, dimensions, labeling information, or EAN numbers – but rarely explanatory content covering product benefits and intended use cases. The critical question frequently went unanswered: Why this tire – and not another?

This resulted in three concrete challenges:

  • Incomplete product information. Many pages consisted primarily of master data with little additional explanatory content. Customers had minimal guidance, making purchase decisions more difficult or preventing them altogether.
  • Delayed availability of Premium Content (A+). When new products launched, it often took weeks before extended content from the manufacturer was available. In the interim, master data was frequently all that was on offer.
  • High manual maintenance overhead. Many content updates had to be managed individually. Across 124 brands and thousands of products, this accumulated into a considerable time investment.

“Prior to the integration, we faced the challenge of providing complete product information quickly, as content was frequently incomplete or out of date. There was also a significant manual maintenance burden, given that content from different brands arrived in varying formats.” — Michael Rapp, Deputy Head of E-Commerce, reifencom GmbH

Solution

Premium Content via Code Snippet

The integration of loadbee into the reifen.com shop system was carried out via an iFrame embed with just a few parameters: a merchant key, an EAN variable for data matching, and pixel values to define the iFrame dimensions. No complex API setup or lengthy development phase was required.

“The integration of loadbee was straightforward overall, as it is implemented via an iFrame with just a few parameters and could be embedded into our existing shop environment with manageable coordination effort.” — Michael Rapp, Deputy Head of E-Commerce, reifencom GmbH

Automatically up to date – including new releases

Without loadbee, product information came from manufacturers – but not always completely, not always promptly, and not always consistently. With loadbee, available manufacturer content is automatically and systematically distributed to the appropriate product detail pages. The effect is especially evident with new product launches:

“With loadbee, we often already have content on the product detail page before the information reaches us through traditional manufacturer delivery channels.” — Michael Rapp

Content only when ready

A distinctive feature of the reifen.com implementation: Premium Content (A+) appears as a dedicated tab on the product detail page – but only when content is actually available. The performance impact remains minimal from reifen.com’s perspective, while customers see the additional content precisely where it exists.

“We notice the page takes slightly longer to load – but it’s minimal. The tab for manufacturer content is only loaded when loadbee content is actually available for the product.” — Michael Rapp

What reifen.com does with loadbee today:

  • Automated Premium Content – content is managed directly by the brands and published automatically
  • Faster and more informative product presentation – new products can be displayed earlier with brand-owned supplementary content, as soon as it becomes available via loadbee
  • More complete product pages – particularly in areas where little or no information was previously available
  • Stable shop performance – content is only loaded when it exists

The more retailers use it, the more interesting it becomes for manufacturers – and vice versa.

Result

Several Million Views. No Ongoing Manual Maintenance.

Over the past twelve months, premium content on reifen.com product pages has been accessed a total of several million times. These views are distributed across 1,461 products from five leading tire manufacturers. The manufacturer content served did not require manual management by reifen.com on individual product pages. The content comes directly from the manufacturers, is delivered via loadbee, and remains automatically up to date.

Product pages with limited supplementary content have been significantly enhanced

Particularly in cases where manufacturers previously supplied little or no supplementary product content, product pages are now considerably richer. Customers now find:

  • Supplementary product details and manufacturer information, rather than purely functional master data
  • Use case descriptions that substantiate the purchase decision
  • Brand-owned images and icons
  • Explanatory content that builds trust

Reduced dependency on manual manufacturer data deliveries

Previously: Days or weeks after launch before content was available. Today: Available manufacturer content can be published automatically. This reduces the risk of product pages going live at launch without explanatory supplementary content.

Manual effort: Significantly reduced

Previously, every content update had to be managed manually. Today, brands maintain their content centrally within loadbee – reifen.com receives updates automatically. The team focuses on strategic tasks, not copy-and-paste work.

Performance remains stable

A common concern when integrating external content is page load time. In the reifen.com implementation, the performance impact was perceived as minimal. Customers receive additional content without any material degradation in load times from reifen.com’s perspective.

Conclusion

Low Effort. Measurable Impact.

1,461 product pages enriched with additional manufacturer content. Several million content views in twelve months. For reifen.com, loadbee represented a lean integration with very manageable technical and organizational effort – one that continues to deliver sustained results.

The principle is transferable: any retailer carrying numerous brands who cannot feasibly source and maintain content for each one individually benefits from a system that automates this work. The more manufacturers provide content via loadbee, the greater the value for the retailer.

“We are very satisfied with loadbee. From a retailer’s perspective, the solution is straightforward to integrate and free of charge, which makes the barrier to entry very low. Furthermore, with each additional shop integration, the platform becomes more attractive for brands to provide their content centrally – ultimately benefiting both retailers and customers alike.” — Michael Rapp

“The more retailers use it, the more interesting it becomes for manufacturers – and vice versa. It’s like a restaurant: you’d rather sit somewhere that already has a few tables occupied.” — Michael Rapp
